Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka says proposed framework aims to resolve issues faced by overseas Telugus and their families more efficiently
The Telangana government is considering the creation of a legally empowered mechanism to address grievances faced by Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and their families, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has announced during his visit to the United States.
Speaking at the 19th American Telugu Association (ATA) National Convention in Baltimore, Vikramarka said the proposed framework would provide a dedicated platform for resolving problems encountered by NRIs abroad as well as by their relatives living in Telangana. The initiative is expected to focus on issues such as property disputes, fraudulent transactions, legal complications and delays in government procedures, which frequently affect overseas Indians.

During his address, Vikramarka also urged NRIs to contribute to Telangana’s economic growth by investing in the state and supporting development projects in their native villages. He highlighted the government’s vision of transforming Telangana into a multi-trillion-dollar economy by 2047 through infrastructure expansion, industrial development and education reforms. The government, he said, has introduced a single-window clearance system to facilitate investments and speed up approvals for entrepreneurs.
The proposed grievance redressal mechanism forms part of the state’s broader outreach to the global Telugu community, which has been encouraged to play a greater role in Telangana’s economic and social development. While no timeline has yet been announced for the launch of the new framework, the proposal signals the government’s intention to strengthen institutional support for NRIs and enhance engagement with the overseas Telugu diaspora.
