Diaspora urged to strengthen investment, innovation and cultural links with Telangana during US convention
Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) have played a significant role in Telangana’s economic and social progress while preserving the state’s cultural heritage overseas, Telangana Minister Dr Jhansi Rajender Reddy has said.
Addressing the 19th American Telugu Association (ATA) Conference in the United States, the minister described the Telugu diaspora as one of Telangana’s greatest strengths, highlighting its contribution to investment, entrepreneurship, philanthropy and knowledge-sharing.
Reddy said the achievements of Telugus across the world have enhanced the state’s global reputation and created opportunities for stronger collaboration in sectors such as technology, education, healthcare and innovation. He noted that many NRIs continue to support development initiatives in their native towns and villages through charitable projects, educational institutions and community welfare programmes.

Calling on the diaspora to remain closely connected with their roots, the minister encouraged overseas Telugus to explore investment opportunities in Telangana and contribute to the state’s long-term development agenda

He said the government is committed to creating a business-friendly environment and welcomes greater participation from global investors of Telugu origin
Reddy also praised the efforts of Telugu associations abroad for preserving the Telugu language, traditions and cultural identity among younger generations. He said such organisations have strengthened ties between Telangana and overseas communities while fostering closer people-to-people relations.
The ATA conference brought together members of the global Telugu community, business leaders, professionals and public representatives to discuss issues affecting the diaspora and opportunities for collaboration with India. The event featured cultural programmes, networking sessions and discussions on economic development, education and community engagement.
The minister reaffirmed the Telangana government’s commitment to engaging with the global Telugu community, stating that stronger partnerships with NRIs would support the state’s ambitions for sustained economic growth, innovation and international outreach.
