The United Arab Emirates has launched a dedicated worker protection hotline aimed at assisting Indian labourers, with the initiative announced within the past 24 hours as part of broader labour welfare reforms. The hotline is designed to provide immediate support for workers facing issues such as wage delays, contract violations, and workplace disputes.

Officials from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation stated that the service will operate in multiple languages, including Hindi and regional Indian languages, to ensure accessibility. “We are committed to safeguarding worker rights and improving grievance mechanisms,” an official spokesperson said.

Indian workers, who constitute a significant portion of the UAE’s labour force, have welcomed the initiative. Community representatives noted that the hotline could help bridge communication gaps and provide timely assistance. “Access to support systems is crucial for migrant workers,” a community leader observed.

  • The hotline will be integrated with existing labour monitoring systems, enabling authorities to track complaints and ensure prompt resolution

  • Employers found in violation of labour laws may face penalties, including fines and suspension of operations

Experts highlight that effective grievance redressal systems are essential for maintaining labour market stability. “Technology-driven solutions can significantly improve accountability,” a labour analyst said.

The Indian Embassy has acknowledged the initiative and is encouraging workers to utilise official channels for reporting issues. Authorities have indicated that the system will be reviewed periodically to enhance effectiveness.
