Telugu associations in New Jersey pledge strong support for Mayor Sam Joshi as he seeks re-election
Edison, New Jersey — often regarded as the hub of Indian activity in the state — continues to buzz with cultural and community events throughout the week. Among the city’s vibrant Indian diaspora, the Telugu NRI community has emerged as a major supporter of Edison Mayor Sam Joshi as he gears up for re-election, reported telugutimes.net.
Mayor Sam Joshi, known for his close ties with the Telugu community, has been a consistent presence at key events and association gatherings. Telugu leaders describe him as approachable, proactive, and deeply supportive of their cultural initiatives.
“Sam Joshi has always stood by our community, attending our festivals and supporting our causes. Now, it’s our turn to stand with him,” said a prominent Telugu association member during a recent community meeting
Joshi, who has maintained a strong rapport with various Indian organizations, is once again seeking the backing of the Telugu NRI community — and this time, the response appears overwhelmingly positive.
Edison’s Telugu associations and NRI groups have publicly expressed their commitment to support his campaign, citing his inclusive leadership and consistent engagement with Indian residents.
“Edison is our home away from home, and Mayor Joshi understands our values, traditions, and contributions,” another community leader noted.
The Telugu community’s backing is expected to play a pivotal role in the upcoming local elections, as Indian Americans — particularly from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana — form one of the most active voter bases in the township.
