A violent assault on an Indian-origin rideshare driver in Chicago has triggered a police investigation, with authorities confirming the incident occurred within the past 24 hours. The driver was attacked by passengers following a dispute over route and fare, highlighting ongoing safety concerns in the gig economy.
According to police reports, the disagreement escalated quickly, with the passengers physically assaulting the driver before fleeing the scene. The victim sustained injuries and was treated at a local hospital, where he is now in stable condition.
