Authorities stated that operations at the affected section of the project will remain suspended until inspections are completed and safety clearances are issued
A large industrial fire at a major infrastructure construction site in Doha left an Indian construction supervisor seriously injured, with Qatari authorities confirming the incident within the past 24 hours. Emergency crews spent several hours containing the blaze, which disrupted operations across the project zone.
According to civil defence officials, the fire broke out in a materials storage section before spreading rapidly through temporary structures used by workers. Several labourers were evacuated, while the Indian supervisor sustained burn injuries during efforts to assist trapped workers.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire, focusing on electrical systems and storage safety procedures. “A technical review is underway to determine whether safety regulations were breached,” a civil defence spokesperson stated.
The incident has renewed discussion around industrial safety standards at high-intensity construction sites across the Gulf region. Worker rights groups have called for stricter inspections and emergency preparedness measures.
The Indian Embassy in Doha confirmed that it is coordinating with local authorities and the employer while providing assistance to the injured worker’s family.
Industry experts note that fires involving temporary construction facilities can spread rapidly because of dense equipment storage and high electrical usage. “Emergency response systems and evacuation training are essential in these environments,” a regional safety consultant observed.
