Authorities indicated that additional visa cancellations and possible criminal prosecutions may follow as investigators examine hundreds of related applications
Australian immigration authorities have cancelled multiple student visas after uncovering fraudulent internship and training documents submitted by international applicants, including a significant number linked to Indian students. The enforcement action was confirmed within the past 24 hours following a compliance audit conducted across education institutions and migration agencies.
Officials from the Department of Home Affairs stated that several students allegedly used fabricated internship letters and employment certificates to strengthen post-study visa applications. Authorities are also investigating education agents suspected of facilitating the scheme.

The development has created anxiety among genuine Indian students who fear additional scrutiny and processing delays. Student associations have urged authorities to distinguish carefully between intentional fraud and applicants misled by unethical agents.
Several universities have issued advisories reminding students to submit only verifiable documents and to avoid third-party consultancies offering “guaranteed migration pathways.” A Melbourne-based migration lawyer stated that many students may not fully understand the legal consequences of submitting falsified records.
The Indian High Commission in Canberra has acknowledged the investigation and advised students to rely exclusively on registered migration professionals.
Experts say growing demand for overseas employment pathways has fueled document fraud networks targeting international students. “Fraudulent documentation schemes have become more sophisticated in recent years,” a migration policy analyst observed.
