Majority of returnees are migrant workers from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab who were repatriated after allegedly breaching UAE regulations
Sixty Indian nationals deported from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) arrived at Surat International Airport aboard an Air India Express flight after being removed by UAE authorities for allegedly violating local laws and regulations. The group landed on Wednesday, where immigration and security officials completed the necessary verification procedures before allowing them to leave the airport.
According to official information, the deportees had been issued emergency certificates and temporary travel documents by the Indian Embassy in Dubai to facilitate their return after the completion of legal formalities in the UAE. The embassy assisted them throughout the repatriation process, ensuring they could travel back to India despite no longer holding valid travel documents.
Authorities said the deportation was linked to violations of UAE rules and regulations, although no detailed information has been released regarding the specific offences committed by the individuals. Officials have not indicated whether the cases involved immigration, labour or other legal violations.

The returnees were permitted to leave only after the completion of the required formalities
Preliminary information indicates that most of those deported are residents of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab who had travelled to the UAE in search of employment and other opportunities. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of complying with the host country’s immigration, employment and legal requirements, particularly for overseas workers.
The UAE remains home to one of the world’s largest Indian expatriate communities, with millions of Indians contributing to sectors including construction, services, healthcare, retail and technology.
