Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), a GMR Infrastructure Limited-led consortium, announced that Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), Delhi, had been adjudged the ‘Best Airport in India and South Asia’ in 2022 Skytrax World Airport Awards. The airport has received the Best Airport accolade for the fourth consecutive year (2019-2022). The airport has also improved its overall ranking, moving to the 37th place in 2022 from last year’s 45th position.

Delhi Airport continues to be the only Indian airport to be in the league of the World’s Top 50 Airports. The airport has also been adjudged as the “Cleanest Airport in India and South Asia”.

The Awards are based on the World Airport Survey questionnaires completed by over 100 nationalities of airport customers during the 9-month survey period, Sept 2021 to May 2022

Commenting on the achievement, Videh Jaipuriar, CEO-DIAL said, “All the airport staff, stakeholders, and partners working at the airport have made Delhi Airport the Best Airport in India and South Asia with their constant resilience, focus, and customer-centricity. This is a proud moment for all of us. We take immense pride in receiving this prestigious accolade. Delhi Airport has always set a new benchmark in providing the best airport experience to all its passengers and will continue to do so.”

The Skytrax World Airport Awards are the most prestigious accolades for the airport industry, voted by customers in the largest annual global airport customer satisfaction survey.

They are regarded as the quality benchmark for the world airport industry, assessing customer service and facilities across over 550 airports. The survey and awards are independent of any airport control or inputs.

The Awards are based on the World Airport Survey questionnaires completed by over 100 nationalities of airport customers during the 9-month survey period, Sept 2021 to May 2022. The survey evaluated the customer experience across airport service and product key performance indicators – from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security, and immigration through to departure at the gate.
