France has set an ambitious target of welcoming 30,000 students from India by the year 2030, with the primary objective of fostering academic excellence, strengthening cultural ties, and nurturing lasting friendships between the two nations. This commitment was unveiled as part of a comprehensive plan during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Paris, where France showcased its determination to extend a warm welcome to Indian students and alumni.

As a key component of this initiative, France intends to introduce a five-year Schengen circulation visa for Indian alumni. The French embassy shared insights into this program, emphasizing the belief that even a brief academic stint in France for an Indian student creates a connection that should be nurtured and valued. To this end, Indian students who hold a Master’s degree or higher and have spent at least one semester studying in France are eligible for this special five-year Schengen visa, ensuring that they maintain strong connections with France and their French counterparts.

This provision represents a concerted effort to facilitate enduring bonds between Indian students and the nation of France. French Ambassador Emmanuel Lenain reaffirmed the commitment to implement the decisions made by President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Modi, highlighting France’s inclusive and diverse nature and its desire to share its rich cultural heritage and world-class educational opportunities with Indian students. He assured Indian students that France would continue to be a steadfast friend, committed to providing them with an exceptional academic and life experience within its borders.

This decision underscores France’s dedication to simplifying the lives of Indian students pursuing education in the country. President Macron’s announcement of the goal to host 30,000 Indian students by 2030 underscores France’s conviction that this endeavor will enhance academic excellence, cultural understanding, and long-lasting friendship between the two nations.

In line with this initiative, the French embassy and the French Institute have announced the ‘Choose France Tour 2023.’ This education fair, organized by the French government and Campus France, will be hosted in four major Indian cities—Chennai (8th Oct), Calcutta (11th Oct), Delhi (13th Oct), and Mumbai (15th Oct).
