More arrests are possible as investigators examine links between overseas recruiters and local employers. The investigation remains ongoing
Kuwaiti authorities have detained an Indian recruitment agent as part of a human trafficking investigation involving domestic workers recruited from South Asia, with the arrest confirmed within the past 24 hours. Officials believe the case may involve fraudulent contracts, passport confiscation, and illegal recruitment fees.
According to the Ministry of Interior, investigators raided multiple recruitment offices after workers filed complaints alleging exploitation and contract substitution upon arrival in Kuwait. Several employees connected to the agencies are currently being questioned.

Several Indian domestic workers interviewed by investigators reportedly described being promised higher salaries and lighter workloads before discovering major discrepancies after entering the country. Rights organisations have long warned about vulnerabilities faced by migrant domestic workers in Gulf labour markets.
The Indian Embassy in Kuwait acknowledged the case and stated that it is providing assistance to affected workers while coordinating with local authorities.
Migration experts note that recruitment fraud networks frequently operate across multiple countries, making enforcement difficult. “Unscrupulous agents often exploit economic desperation and information gaps,” said a regional migration researcher.
