Researchers at Indian Institute of Technology -Madras have developed an Artificial Intelligence-based tool – Pivot – that will be able to predict cancer-causing genes in an individual. The announcement was made on July 6. The tool will help chart out personalised cancer treatment strategies, the institute said. According to the Worl Health Organisation, cancer is the leading cause of deaths around the world.

The research findings have been published in a peer-reviewed journal Frontier in Genetics

The prediction is based on a model that utilises information on mutations, expression of genes, and copy number variation in genes and perturbations in the biological network due to an altered gene expression, reported PTI. The research findings have been published in a peer-reviewed journal Frontier in Genetics (https://doi.org/10.3389/fgene.2022.854190).
