A devastating road accident near Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has taken the lives of four members of an NRI family hailing from the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The incident occurred on a fateful Friday (August 26, 2023) as the family was returning to Kuwait after completing the Umrah pilgrimage.

The victims have been identified as Dandu Ghouse Basha, a native of Madanapalle in Sri Annamayya, who was employed at an American University in Kuwait, his wife Tabarak Sarwar, and their two young sons – three-year-old Ehan and eight-month-old Dameel. The family had embarked on their journey in their newly acquired vehicle.

Having performed Umrah and offered prayers in Madinah, the family was en-route to Kuwait when tragedy struck. Their vehicle collided with a trailer along the Hafna-Tuwakh road, situated approximately 120 kilometers away from Riyadh. The collision resulted in a harrowing accident, claiming the lives of all four family members.

The aftermath of the accident was compounded by the extensive damage suffered by the victims’ belongings, including their travel documents, which were consumed by the ensuing flames

The bodies of the deceased have been transported to Rumah General Hospital, where the necessary legal procedures are still underway. The parents of Ghouse Basha, shocked by the news, were admitted to a hospital in Bengaluru upon learning of the tragedy.

The aftermath of the accident was compounded by the extensive damage suffered by the victims’ belongings, including their travel documents, which were consumed by the ensuing flames. Overcoming this obstacle, local authorities, along with the assistance of dedicated individuals such as prominent social worker Sidhikh Tuvvur and the KMCC Malayali community workers, managed to identify the victims and establish contact with their bereaved family members.

On the following day, Telugu NRI activist Muzzamil Shaikh and Siddik Tuvvur paid a somber visit to the morgue at Rumah General Hospital, paying their respects to the departed souls.

The hearts of the community go out to the grieving family as they navigate through this incredibly difficult time.
