Police say investigation is continuing to identify other suspects and establish the motive
Two men have been arrested in connection with the attempted murder of a Non-Resident Indian (NRI) in Punjab, with police continuing their investigation to determine whether others were involved in the attack.
According to the police, the accused were taken into custody following a swift investigation after the NRI was allegedly attacked in an incident that has raised concerns over crimes targeting overseas Indians returning to the state. The victim survived the assault and is receiving medical treatment.
Investigators said preliminary findings suggest the attack was premeditated. The police have registered a case of attempted murder and other relevant offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Officials are examining the sequence of events, collecting forensic evidence and recording statements from witnesses to strengthen the prosecution’s case.
