US OPEN: Rafel Nadal defeated Rinky Hijikata

Second seeded Rafel Nadal from Spain defeated Rinky Hijikata to reach to second round and score of 4-6,6-2,6-3,6-3 clearly indicates that wildcard holder Australian must have given tough time to Nadal.In another match, Carlos Alcaraz, also from Spain reached to the second round when at a score of 7-5,7-5 and 2-0,his opponent Sebastian Baez was forced to withdraw due to an injury.

First round of the tournament witnessed exit of many stalwarts of the game. Last year Emma Raducanu had won the title at the age of just 18 but lost in the first round against Alize Cornet 6-3,6-3.Former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina,former Austalia and U S open champion Naomi Osaka,former French Open champion Jelena Ostapenka and former Wimbledon and US open champion Venus Wiiliams also faced defeat in the first round.

Venus Williams has represented Grand Slam most number of time and this was her 91stappearance.
