The demand by Indian for outdoor experiences this summer has prompted the German National Tourist Board (GNTB) to chalk out plans for a new campaign highlighting sustainable and open-air activities. The campaign, ‘Embrace German Nature’ has been designed to promote beautiful nature sites including popular national parks, hiking trails, cycle routes and more. All this to attract Indian travellers to visit natural landscapes and experience varied outdoor activities at places like the Bavarian Forest National Park, the Rhine Castles Trail, the Berlin-Copenhagen Cycle route and Baden-Baden, a little town in the South of Germany, surrounded by lush green spaces, scenery and home to stylish hotels.

Germany has more than 130 protected natural landscapes, including forests, lakes, valleys, hiking, and cycling trails. The country also boasts of three UNESCO World Natural Heritage Sites, 16 UNESCO biosphere reserves, 16 national parks, and 106 nature reserves along with 300,000 km of hiking trails and 76,000 km of cycle paths.
Romit Theophilus, the Director of the German National Tourist Office, India (GNTO) said that Indian travellers were keen to visit countries that possess ideal summer climates with a wide range of things to do. Germany’s diverse selection of outdoor activities ensures something for everyone, from hiking trails to relaxing spa towns, he said. He invited Indian tourists to choose Germany as their next destination in summer. The ‘Embrace German Nature’ campaign will help to provide information about these opportunities.
