French authorities have intensified labour law enforcement following complaints from Indian migrant workers in the hospitality sector, with developments reported within the past 24 hours. The initiative focuses on addressing issues such as wage discrepancies, excessive working hours, and lack of formal contracts.

Labour inspectors have conducted targeted inspections across restaurants and service establishments, reviewing employment practices and interviewing workers. “We are committed to ensuring fair treatment and compliance with labour laws,” a government spokesperson said.

  • Indian workers have reported challenges including underpayment and limited access to legal support

  • Community organisations have called for improved awareness and stronger enforcement to protect vulnerable workers

Authorities have indicated that employers found in violation may face penalties, including fines and operational restrictions. “Non-compliance will not be tolerated,” an official stated.

Experts highlight that migrant workers often face higher risks of exploitation due to limited familiarity with local regulations. “Education and enforcement must go hand in hand,” an analyst observed.

The Indian Embassy has been informed and is encouraging workers to report grievances through official channels.
