Candidates have been placed in two priority groups for postgraduate medical seats under the NRI quota, with admission subject to verification of original documents
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has published a provisional list of more than 1,000 candidates eligible to seek Non-Resident Indian (NRI) quota seats in Round 3 of postgraduate medical counselling, setting out a two-tier priority system for seat allotment.
According to the notice, candidates whose documents have been scrutinised and accepted provisionally are divided into two groups. Priority 1 includes NRI candidates and children of NRIs, while Priority 2 covers first- and second-degree relatives of NRI wards.
The allotment process will consider Priority 1 candidates first. Priority 2 applicants will be considered only if seats remain available after the first group has been processed. Merit rank, candidates’ choices and seat availability will also influence the final allotment.
The list is provisional and does not guarantee admission. Candidates must check their NEET-PG roll numbers in the relevant annexure to establish their eligibility and priority category.
A key condition is the submission of original documents at the time of reporting to the allotted medical college. These must establish the candidate’s NRI status or the claimed relationship with an NRI. Colleges may cancel an allotted seat if the required documents are missing or found deficient.
The notice also clarifies that candidates initially registered in the Indian category may have been provisionally reclassified as NRI candidates following scrutiny of their submissions. This change remains subject to verification by the allotted institution.
-
Eligible candidates should organise their original documents in advance and monitor the official MCC website for counselling schedules, choice-filling deadlines and allotment updates
-
They should also confirm the precise documentation requirements with their allotted college
The MCC conducts counselling for postgraduate medical seats under the All India Quota and at designated central institutions and deemed universities. NRI quota eligibility and priority arrangements are governed by the applicable counselling rules and official notices.
Candidates should rely on the official MCC notice and portal for authoritative information, rather than treating provisional eligibility as confirmation of a medical seat.
