Officers praise act of honesty that helped reunite a large sum of cash with its rightful owner
Dubai Police have honoured an Indian resident for his honesty after he handed over Dh100,000 that he discovered in a car park, leading authorities to locate and return the money to its owner.
Mohammed Ali Sherakal Mohi found the cash after it had accidentally fallen from a man who had recently withdrawn Dh200,000 from a bank. Unaware that part of the money had dropped to the ground as he returned to his vehicle, the owner left the area without noticing the loss.
After discovering the bundle of cash, Mr Mohi took a photograph of it and promptly reported the matter to Al Raffa Police Station, where he handed over the money to officers.
Police launched inquiries and successfully identified the owner, who was reportedly surprised to learn that he had misplaced such a significant amount without realising it.
In recognition of his actions, Dubai Police organised a ceremony at Al Raffa Police Station. The event was attended by Col Ahmed bin Hudaiba, Director of Al Raffa Police Station, his deputy Col Saleh Al Marzouqi, and Capt Ali Al Balushi, Head of the Customer Happiness Section.
During the ceremony, police officials praised Mr Mohi’s integrity and sense of responsibility. Col bin Hudaiba said the incident reflected the values of honesty and public trust that contribute to the safety and security enjoyed across the UAE
He commended Mr Mohi for ensuring the money was handed to authorities so it could be returned to its rightful owner, describing the act as an example of civic responsibility and good citizenship.
The recognition highlights the role individuals can play in supporting community trust and public safety through simple acts of honesty.
