Hundreds of Indian nationals are stranded in the United Arab Emirates after fresh military escalation in West Asia led to widespread flight cancellations and temporary airport closures.
The disruption followed strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran, which were met with retaliatory attacks across parts of the region. As a result, flight operations to and from key transit hubs, including Dubai, were suspended, leaving travellers unable to return home.
Among those stranded at Dubai International Airport are two-time Olympic medallist P. V. Sindhu and her Indonesian coach Irwansyah Adi Pratama, who were travelling to Birmingham for the All England Championships. Sindhu described tense moments at the airport after an explosion was reported nearby.

According to the Travel Agents Federation of India’s Madhya Pradesh unit, more than 700 people from the state, including two former MLAs, are stuck in the UAE after travelling for tourism and business.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said his government is coordinating with India’s Ministry of External Affairs to bring back residents safely. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi stated that flying in the current situation is risky but assured that efforts are ongoing.
