Vaccinated travel lane: Singapore extends scheme to eight more countries

The only Asian country on the list is Brunei. China, India, and Indonesia have not been included so far

Extending its Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) scheme from October 19, Singapore will now allow entry to fully vaccinated against Covid-19, with a World Health Organization (WHO) approved jab, to travellers from Canada, Denmark, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, United Kingdom, and the United States from October 19. They will now be able to stay without having to serve quarantine, Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) said.

The expansion is expected to help restore Singapore’s status as an international aviation hub with global connectivity. It will now be two-way quarantine-free travel between Singapore and the countries announced. It may be recalled that only last month, the first two vaccinated travel lanes that were opened by Singapore were with Brunei and Germany.

Proof of vaccination and RT-PCR tests will continue not more than 48 hours before departure and arrival at Singapore’s Changi airport. Four such tests were required earlier to gain entry

Starting November 15, Singapore is to begin another VTL with South Korea. The only Asian country on the list is Brunei. China, India, and Indonesia have not been included so far. While VTL-designated flights are flown by Singapore Airlines or Lufthansa, other carriers will be added later.

Proof of vaccination and RT-PCR tests will continue not more than 48 hours before departure and arrival at Singapore’s Changi airport. Four such tests were required earlier to gain entry.
